FIELD'S COOPERATIVE PROGRAM
As a continuum of FIELD’s educational and vocational training programs, FIELD is developing a NEW program! The Cooperative Development Program will provide its program participants and alumni equitable access to economic opportunity. By supporting them to become members of worker-owned cooperative businesses, program participants and alumni will overcome barriers to business-ownership and build wealth through shared-ownership and democratic decision-making.
WORKER COOPERATIVES
Did you know FIELD’s founder, César E. Chávez, saw worker-owned cooperative businesses as a strategy to improve conditions for our communities? Worker-cooperatives are values-driven businesses that put worker and community benefit at the core of their purpose. They are businesses that are owned and operated by its workers, where the worker-owners make business decisions in a democratic way.
PROGRAM PURPOSE
To establish a network of mutually beneficial Cooperatives. In support of this, FIELD is committed to the following:
- Generating economic prosperity for cooperative members through democratically shared-business ownership.
- Promoting social prosperity for cooperative members and their communities
- Bolstering cooperation and confidence building through continuous leadership and business training
- Enhancing Cesar Chavez’s vision of strengthened communities.
PROGRAM VISION
FIELD’s Cooperative Program aims to generate social and economic wealth for its program participants and alumni through shared-business ownership” by providing training, technical assistance, and long-term support to program participants. FIELD Cooperative Program graduates will be the architects of their own future, applying their acquired assets (their knowledge, skills, abilities, and wealth) through worker-cooperative business ownership to improve the quality of life for their families and communities.
